In the mid-nineties there were regular free raves in Sydney Park, at the end of King St., Newtown. These were usually run by the Vibe Tribe, a small band of tricksters and techno musicians, and they were some of the most entertaining raves in Sydney.
Sadly, due to pressure from politicians and especially publicans and club owners, who didn't agree that entertainment should ever be free or without endorsement from commercial products, the police stepped in. Several events were broken up, and the council refused to give permission for the raves to be held anymore.
These are pictures I took at the last rave in the park.
